In 2024, Rotterdam's Black Cadmium debuts on Omndisc with a dark, soulful, and abstract journey to the galaxy. Their creation draws inspiration from an old-school blend of broken soul, techno, breakbeat, and house, seasoned with their unique 90’s flavor. The six-track EP kicks off with "Deepwatered," an ambient track propelling listeners in and out of space. Danny Daze delivers a 4x4 techno remix, followed by "What Have We Become," a broken yet soulful track at the emotional and raw crossroads. The title track, "Engkanto," narrates an electro-minded story of musical spirits manifesting in physical form with enchanting abilities. "When We Began" serves as an ode to their first nightlife encounter, challenging the definitions of deep house and tech, perfect for sweaty basement peak moments. "Construction (of a new world)" emerged during lockdown, starting with an abstract, offbeat, ambient sound akin to a piling machine. The bass's eeriness guides you through a heavy breakbeat, symbolizing dystopian times. We appreciate your journey alongside them.
